As a child growing up in a small community, my travels were inspired by the literature of Lawrence Durrell, Bruce Chatwin, Paul Theroux , Freya Stark, Alexandra David Neel, Gertrude Bell and many others, including family members and their scrapbooks from working as miners at the turn of the 1900s.
The photographs featured within the archive were produced over a twenty-year period of traveling in Indonesia, India, Singapore, Nepal, Mexico, Guatemala, Morocco, Australia, Thailand and Egypt. From an early age, landscape and history played an important role in my work.
The images are not intended to document, but to explore environments as a of form of meditation on where we live and the role we play in the experience of magical thinking.
